Ayurvedic Clinical Foundations

This nationally recognized program provides the foundations for personal health and is required for the 600-hour Ayurvedic Counselor certificate.


Designed to deepen the understanding of the human body, this 250-hour training uses Ayurvedic and Tibetan Elemental Theory to explore and explain the dimensions of integrated health. Through listening to the emotions, symptoms, and signals provided by the body, you will learn applications for symptomology, the diagnostic tools of tongue, face, pulse, aromatherapy, herbal preparations, whole food nutrition, bodywork and Pancha Karma. The program, taught in an experiential format, is for both beginners and experienced practitioners. It’s user-friendly and client-friendly.

The program consists of 3 major areas of focus:

  1. Foundations & Diagnostics

  2. Aromatherapy, Herbs & Whole Food Nutrition

  3. Treatment, Bodywork & Application

A 250-hour course includes:

  • Theory and practicum in a classroom setting

  • Pulse practice

  • Real-world experience by serving in community clinics

  • A day devoted to yoga instruction

  • How to bring your practice home

6-Week Intensive Program

11 am to 6 pm each day of class

Class Final: February 18-20, 2019

9-Month Weekend Program

11 am to 6 pm each day of class

  • Pranayama, chakras and endocrine glands

  • Doshas: Vata, Pitta, & Kapha

  • Gunas: Qualities of Vata, Pitta, Kapha / creating individualism

  • Pulse assessment: Learn how to read rhythms as used in Ayurvedic science

  • How to indentify symptoms and stop an issue from continuing

  • The assessment tools of face, tongue, and skin


Aromatherapy, Herbs & Whole Food Nutrition

  • Ayurvedic whole food nutrition

  • Digestive tract: physiology and teamwork

  • Agni & Ama: Digestive fire & toxicity in the gut

  • Samprapti: stages of disease

  • Ayurvedic enzymes and the medicinal value of spices

  • Clinical aromatherapy & Ayurveda: The physical and emotional aspects

  • Essential oils 101: Application, toxicity, dosage, & use

  • Traditional blending techniques as an art form

  • Understanding Ayurvedic and Western herbs as hot, cold, wet, & dry

  • Ayurvedic approach to carrier oils: Choosing appropriate oils for clients


Treatment, Bodywork & Application

  • Dhatus: The 7 tissues in the body and why they are important

  • Rasa Chikitsa/phenakam: Lymphatic drainage massage

  • How to change the tissues through massage

  • Massage techniques and tools

  • Tandem massage

  • Pancha Karma – tending to the nourishing & cleansing needs of a client’s health

  • Client intake charts

  • Final exam working in a group to provide a 3-day pancha karma to a client in need

  • Pulse assessment taught throughout class. Laughter included.


Internships are available for graduations of this program. Continue your learning experience and practice with hands on experience. Gain confidence as a practitioner. Learn how to work with clients and give back to the local community.
