Our self-care sanctuary is an excellent place to be when the temperatures rise outside. You may be surprised to hear all the ways heat can help you cool down!
If you only have time for one quick method, this may help you decide:
Steam room – In addition to promoting detoxification through sweating, the steam room helps raise your skin’s temperature. Once you are warm, the relative temperature of the air around you will feel much cooler.
Dry Sauna – This room helps you break a sweat, the body’s natural cooling mechanism.
Far Infrared Sauna – While not very heating, this sauna alkalizes lactic acid in the body and helps to cleanse the skin, reducing inflammation and allowing better circulation to cool the body.
Cold Plunge – This one gives you instant chill for when your internal temperature feels quite elevated. Be sure to rest afterward to ensure that the cooling effect travels throughout the body.
Soaking Tub – Agitation and stress only make environmental heat more unbearable. Taking the time to relax and meditate in calming water can cool you down emotionally and energetically. This helps you move slower and conserve energy, a wise approach to summertime.
Keep hydrated more than you would normally as hot temperatures and dry air will evaporate your body’s moisture more than usual while the body uses its cooling tools.
If you have more time, follow the protocol specific to countering excess heat. You’ll find this information and more by the water station in the sanctuary. The protocol involves a guided path throughout the entire sanctuary to use each area in the most effective way to cool you down.
Don’t forget to order a cooling Kumari from the Apothecary bar, brought to you as you replenish. This drink blends mint and aloe for a healthy mohito vibe with none of the negative effects!
