Foundation Training
Feb 12 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join Dr. Mike Lane, DC to experience Foundation Training, a series of postural exercises that strengthen and lengthen the posterior chain – your muscles of support. When you learn to engage the posterior chain and move with resilient strength, your life practice will be transformed.

Foundation Training can:

  • Relieve pain.
  • Increase strength.
  • Help you feel confident in your body.

Dr. Mike Lane, DC is a specialist in the field of functional movement and wellness. He is a chiropractor, bodyworker, foundation training instructor and anatomy teacher. His intention is to help people move, feel and live better.

Series Schedule:

Week 1 – Decompress: Rediscover your breath

In week 1, I will introduce the concept of decompression breathing. You will learn the anatomy and proper use our your lungs to decompress your spine and set your body up for strength and resilence. This is the basis for the rest of the workshop. Once you can breathe properly, then you can move with greater ease and freedom.

Week 2-  Anchor & Hinge: Move with power

The second principle of Foundation Training is Anchoring. With this pulling in towards the center of the body, along with decompression breathing your body can expand in all directions distributing gravity across larger chains of muscles instead of the smaller joints.  This drawing/ pulling towards the midline will help your hips be aligned in the right position to limit back and knee pain. Once you can breathe properly and anchor correctly, then you can hinge with greater freedom and power.  I will cover the anatomy of the legs, hips and lower back.

Week 3- Arms, shoulders, and neck: Redistribute tension

In this class, I will cover the anatomy of the shoulders and neck and guide you into proper shoulder position so your neck will have less stress. So much of our day to day neck tension comes from how we wear our shoulders and head.

Week 4- Spiral in Nature: Link the connective tissues of your body

In this class, we will explore the interconnectedness of the body through rotational movements. I will cover the anatomy of the spiral lines, connecting the hip and shoulder girdles.  You will experience how tension and movement   of one side of the body can affect the other.

Week 5-  Functional Integration: Bring it all together

How do you integrate what you have learned so far into your everyday life? I will cover how you can hinge your way throughout the day to save your body from undue stress. We will review what you have learned and answer any questions you may have.

Week 6-  A powerful wrap-up

This class will take you through all the moves and breathing patterns we worked on over the last 5 weeks. This is the time when you get to experience how strong your body has become.

Sacred Mapping
Mar 1 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Taught by Michelle Vesser

There are events that happen in our lives that emotionally disrupt our health. When you are stressed, anxious, or upset, your body reacts in a way that might tell you that something isn’t right. These unattended emotions can move deeper into the body, cause illness and keep you from living to your fullest potential.

According to Ayurveda, the emotional body can be cleansed the same way we purify the physical body. Through the act of allowing the passages through which our emotions flow to be tended allow the constricted energy to circulate.

Each week of the series you will be introduced to a new practice to track our emotional body to these passages, release constricted emotions and bring your inner landscape to a restored place of health and balance. You will both offer and receive in a supportive and collaborative setting.
